Christams blog, debt 1: rendering of the article #1

The article which was published on 1st December, 2012 on “The Daily Mail” discusses a White House Christmas. It reports at length, that Michelle Obama unveils holiday decorations to military families as Obamas celebrate the season with 37 Christmas trees, a 400lb gingerbread house and a replica of family dog Bo in almost EVERY room. It is an open secret that first dog Bo is upstaging the Christmas decorations at the White House this holiday season. The most famous member of the Obama family,' has been a little confused walking around the house and seeing himself in 'gigantic form.'

Analyzing the situation, which takes place in The White House, we are to say that first lady, Michelle Obama, welcomed military families to the first viewing of the decorations today. It’s very likely that  'Shine, Give, Share' is the theme for the Obama family's third Christmas in the mansion. And by the way it’s necessary to point out that several decorations honor military families including a Gold Star Families Tree with ceramic gold ornaments carrying personalized messages by families. Tour visitors can also create handwritten notes for the troops.

It’s necessary to emphasize that the usual centerpiece of Christmas at the White House is the official tree in the Blue Room, which is decorated with holiday cards created by military children, medals, badges and patches from all the military branches. It’s important to mention that the first lady thanks all of the troops, all of American veterans and all of American military families, as their service and sacrifice inspire all Americans.
David Bondarchuck, who designed the Green Room decorations, said he wanted to enhance the 'simple beauty' of the room. Speaking about it, the room was decorated with various hues of green with a bit of 'sparkle and shine' including pine cones, twigs, and clear and silver ornaments.

Giving appraisal of the situation it is necessary to note that approximately 85,000 visitors are expected to tour the Christmas decorations this December, nearly 100 holiday volunteers from across the country assisted with the decorations, transforming 16 distinct spaces into works of art.

The article concludes by saying that the 89th year for the holiday tree lightning will take place and there will be the band One Republic, Big Time Rush and other stars.

Unfortunately the author didn’t give his personal opinion about this theme, but I think that it’s good when ordinary people and heads of states celebrate holidays together.

Imon Clark, the beginner members of IRA , has the mission to kill Jack near the gatу of the Navy Academy, where he works. Clark, finally, is captured by Gunny and sent to the police station. Imon keeps silence. The police is shocked that Ivon Clark is in America, because he is in the wanted least. The Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland arranges her own security system to the Ryans. Policemen want to kill terrorists but their life principles are higher.

Jack is shocked in the hospital: his wife and her future child are under the doctors eyes and Sally doesn’t have any life place on her organism. By the way, journalists disturb the main hero in his mood. Robby is all the time near his friend. He supports Jack. Paddy O’Neil is nearly smothered by Jack. Paddy is supposed to be the sponsor of Ireland terrorists, he comes to the hospital to insure Jack that he doesn’t have bearing on the terrorist attack.

Edward Donocho, the FBI’s representative, opens his uncles eyes on the true deeds of the terrorists. John Donocho, the uncle, has the pub called “Patriots’ Club” in Boston. O’Neil raises money for terrorists in the pub. Having come to know that, the uncle expels him from the pub.

Jack returns to himself. Cathy can talk with her husband. Her father, Joe Muller, blames Jack. The father believes that Jack could not put his nose into terrorists business. Mr. Ryan promises to find terrorists and punishes all of them.

The British Police tries to find spy in the agency, but it’s still impossible and ineffective. Though, FBI and CIA have the meeting concerning the act of violence. Jack studies satellite images of terrorists’ camps.
O’Donnell, Miller and Macinni discuss the new plan: they know that The Prince of Wales will come to the USA; they know the way he will travel; they know the security system; they know that with the help of Mr. Cooley.

Individual Reading: "The Patriots Games" by Tom Clancy: week 2 (p. 184 from 365)

Summary

Our hero, Mr. Jack Ryan flied out from the UK’s Heathrow Airport. He had a habit to be afraid of planes. It was caused he death oа his parents in the air crash. By the way, he was waiting for his flight on the modern model of planes, called the Concorde. It would take Jack about 5 hours to be at home. Mr. Ryan arrived America to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport. There Mr. Ryan was met by his old friend Mr. Oliver Wendell Tyler who had been looking for the Ryans’ house while they were in Britain. At the same time Tyler’s wife Junny had much in common with Cathy: both of them was expecting babies.

In its turn, Kevin O’Donnell and his spy Mr. Cooley, having a habit to fear blood, made a plan not to allow British police to arrest organization’s bomb-maker Maureen Dwyer. But Dan Murray, the representative of FBI in the UK, and James Owens, British police officer, managed to do the operation. Mr. Cooley saw the arrest process. O’Donnell was looking forward to emancipate Sean Miller.

The prisoner had to be transported from one prison to another. Miller was conveyed on four identical blue vans, which left the Brixton prison to Yourmouth ferry. The head of the colony was Robert Highland of the famous C-13. the policeman saved Sean one day from cellmates. The ferry was under attack. Its engines were destroyed. Cops were killed by six terrorists. Sean Miller shouted to Robert Highland but the last wasn’t killed. As a result of the aggression there were 9 deaths. The captain of the ferry needed help. He called for Navy and Medical forces using radio set in one of the police vans.

The onset happened on Christmas. Jack and Cathy decorated New-Year Tree and installed new doll-house for Sally and other presents. Their old friend, Lieutenant Commander Robert Jefferson Jackson or Robby, as friends called him, came to them to celebrate that day. Singing songs, drinking, eating and laughing Jack and Robby were spending that day. From the TV news they came to know that the operation had been made. Mr. Owens was responsible for the transportation. His ultimate goal now was to check lists of people who had known about this plane. Sean Miller and his friends went far away from England to a desert where the former prisoner was taught again.

It was first day back at work for Ryan. Students bought him the ribbon on which was written “Shoot Me.” Bill Show from FBI attended the summer hero to warn that Sean Miller could revenge Jack for the interference of the operation. That’s why Robby wanted to acquaint Jack with Sergeant Major Noah Breckenridge. That man also had a nickname – Gunny. He was the master in shooting from different kinds of guns. Gunny, having known about coming danger, offered to give him lessons to protect the family. Cathy was opposed to this idea. She wouldn’t like if one day Sally found a pistol. The mother could protect her daughter any case. Cathy was an excellent racer on her “Porsche 911.”

To Improve theу protection level of his house Jack installed signalizing. But information was the main protection. He decided to go to the CIA to know more about ULA. The Admiral Greer supposed Jack to be a good reconnaissance. The CIA gave Mr. Ryan all information he deeded but Jack was to sign the declaration of non-disclosure. Mr. Ryan made his own research according to which there was a general feeling to believe that ULA and PIRA had spies in both of them. Judge Arthur Moor, the head of CIA, was happy too find such a search. By the way his deputy, Marty Cantor, helped Jack.

Plot:

Embroiled in an affair with Thomas Callahan (Sam Shephard), her alcoholic professor, precocious 24-year-old Tulane University law student Darby Shaw (Julia Roberts) writes up an insightful theory about the recent murder of two Supreme Court justices, one of whom, Abraham Rosenberg (Hume Cronyn), served as Callahan's mentor. When Callahan shares this so-called "Pelican Brief" with buddy Gavin Verheek (John Heard), an FBI lawyer, the document makes its way to White House flack Fletcher Coal (Tony Goldwyn), who believes it could topple the current administration. When Callahan is murdered and the President (Robert Culp) convinces the FBI to hold off on investigating Darby's theory, the resourceful student must go into hiding, stalked by relentless assassin Khamel (Stanley Tucci). Her only hope of escaping Callahan's fate and proving her theory lies in Washington investigative reporter Gray Grantham (Denzel Washington), who's already had one confidential source back out of sharing information about the assassinations.

Direction:

To my mind, Alan J. Pakula, who is a director of this film, worked hard on this movie. Though he has choose not an unusual way to tell the story, but he had to be very accurate, making a film about president and his “black-deeds”. All events go one by one harmonious. Nothing shows up. I have not seen yet any of film of the director, but I’m going to do so, s I like his style of making a movie.

Writing:

Concerning the plot, it seems to me inventive and unpredictable, especially when special services hunt after the main character. Each second is a surprise for a viewer: we can’t imagine what will happen. The words of Darby Shaw – the main character of the film (Julia Roberts) seem to me very symbolic. But not only words, but also her doings. They inspire confidence, because she fights for truth.

Editing:

Speaking about editing we are to say that the film is choppy. Scenes of thoughts are changed into scenes of pursuit. The movie was made in 1993, it is as old as me, so it’s an open secret that that time there were not any high-tech effects. All the effects correspond to that period. From my point of view not all of them look realistic today, because we are fat today with computer-generated graphics and so on, but they fit in the rest of the film.

Costume design:

There is nothing special in them. Darby Shaw is 24 years old, she is a student. Her clothes absolutely correspond to what she does. Her enemies – people with power, we may call them upper-class clerks. They wear suit. We may see that there is an opposition here: the upper class against society. Because Darby is the representative of rights of ordinary people.

Set design:

The setting of the film influences other elements too. Fro example Darby’s permanent moving from one place into another illustrate her soul condition. She is nervous. She can’t stand in one way. By the way, The President’s councilor often sits in a special observation room. Personally I think it may characterize him as a bloody-minded person. I prefer movies which are filmed in a real place, especially when the location is well-chosen.

Background music:

Usually music plays a great role in all films. This movie is not an exception of the rule. Events which can change the story line are presented firstly by music. It helps us to prognoses to the future because it works with the scenes. It is suspenseful as the genre of the movie is thriller. So in this film I like music very much. It works well with all over named aspects.

As for me, I like this movie. It impressed me greatly. I didn’t expect that the final scene of the film would me that one. It’s extraordinary. It’s a very good job of actors and the director. It’s better to make such films those soap operas. To my taste. By the way there are lots of big problems, which are hidden in the film.
One of them is confrontation between a person and the whole government system. This is wide illustrated in this movie. It’s impossible for a man to win a war of such type alone. But as a rule, the government system, a big “un-souled” machine, has its holes. And in any case you may have support from different people with the same ideology, the trick is to find them.

But the main problem is that we are to do all our best to protect nature. People today don’t know when enough is enough. They try to earn all world’s money. But it’s hard to do as to reconstruct the nature after destruction.

I recommend you to see this film. I hope it won’t disappoint you.

Rendering: week 12: "The Animal Rights Movement Wrongs Animals"

The article published by Sui Tether 08/31/2012 in The Daily Caller discusses the situation that the animal rights movement wrongs animals. Speaking of this fact it’s necessary to note that in Washington D. C. there is no shortage of people who talk out of both sides of their mouths, or who have the solutions to problems of their own creation.

Analyzing the situation it is interesting to emphasize that about five years ago, the domestic processing of horsemeat for human consumption ended after animal rights activists were able to shut down the industry. They said that killing horses was not to be tolerated. That’s why horses are now increasingly shipped to Mexico; horse abandonment and starvation is up.

Giving appraisal of the situation it’s important to point out that 100,000 unwanted American horses turn up every year, but the capacity of all the U.S. equine rescues and sanctuaries is only about 13,000 animals. A 2011 Government Accountability Office report recommended that Congress reconsider the ban on funding for domestic horse processing.

There is a lot of comment on the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) that it complains that horses are “being exported live to Canada and Mexica..suffering in this trade and meeting an ignominious demise; transporting horses long distances is fundamentally in humane.” It’s an open secret that HSUS’s latest legislative push would ban the export of horses to be used for human food.

It’s hard to predict the course of events in future but there is some evidence of the improvement of the situation: it would give HSUS even more opportunities to raise money, over $125 million a year. It’s very unlikely that the one thing missing in these emotional appeals is a promise to actually build care centers for the hoard of unwanted horses.

Unfortunately, the author of the article doesn’t give his personal opinion, but as for me I have something to add. To my mind it’s out of the question to be wealthier by virtue of a problem of others. From my point of view we are to think about our nature and animals than about our stomach; there are lots of ways how to be satisfied.

Individual Reading: "The Patriots Games" by Tom Clancy: week 1 (p. 95 from 365)

Summary

Jack Ryan is an American. He spends his vocation with his family abroad in London, the capital of the Great Britain. Ryan is an historian and formerly lieutenant in the United States Marines. He works in the Academy reading lectures for students. His wife, Cathy Ryan has a job in Wilmer Eye Institute, John Hopkins Hospital. She is a doctor. She has been in London many times, but this day is going to be a special for her. Ryan has a child, named Sally. The parents try to spend all their free time with the daughter.

Having met his wife and daughter, Jack has become the witness of the attack at their Royal Highnesses the Prince and Princess of Wales. Ryan manages to protect them and kills one of the attackers whose name is John Michael McCrory. There are three assassinators. One of them has managed to escape and the third one has been neutralized by Jack and captured by the police. The hero of the event has got hurt and is been sent to the surgical recovery unit of St. Thomas’s Hospital.

Sir Charles is Ryan’s doctor. The doctor is old but wise. Bu the way, Mrs. Cathy Ryan has helped her husband having bandaged his hurt shoulder. Kittiwake is a Jack’s nurse. She is the beautiful young girl. But it’s a big risk to stay him alone. That’s why then police service adopts a decision to keep an eye for Jack. Antony Wilson is Ryan’s police nurse we may say. His main goal is to protect Jack from any kind of danger. Wilson also is a good companion, consequently Jack’s life in the hospital isn’t boring. They smoke cigars, laugh and talk.

Jack Ryan shouldn’t wait for an easy life. He becomes as famous as the Royal family. His photo is on the front page of all print media. He is attended by the Prince of Wales. He comes to say thanks to him. Ryan doesn’t know but there were not only the Prince and the Princess of Wales in the car, but also their small baby. The Princess is shocked that’s why she doesn’t manage to visit the hero. The queen of the UK of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh thank the American for what he has done. All in all Jack’s brave leads to continue the Royal generation. The Queen confers a title upon Mr. Ryan for his work. She also offers him his family to live in the Buckingham Palace.

After two weeks Jack is discharged from the hospital and goes to the Buckingham Palace. There is an evening in his honor. He comes to know that his family has visited lots of sights under the head of the royal soldier, whose grandfather is a guide. Jack is happy to hear it. Thereу is also other reason for being in such mood – his wife and he are expecting the second baby.

Mr. Murphy, the representative of the Provisional Wing of the Irish Republican Army (IRA) wants to have a meeting with David Ashley or James Owens. Finally they do what he has wanted. On the meeting, Mr. Murphy lets fall a hint that it has been a wrong act of Mr. Ryan who has put in oar. Fortunately the number of Jack’s enemies will be shortened as a result of the court.

Jack has already been interrogated in the hospital by the police, but the court is the another office. The assassinator’s lawyer does all his best to catch Jack on something. But actually he doesn’t do it. The lawyer is a member of the IRA which is supposed to be the organization of terrorists. Owens, Ashley and Wilson are happy that Jack is keeping a stiff upper lip during the court process. After which the hero and his wife are invited to visit the Tower of London. Jack drinks bear and relaxes after boring hospital weeks.

1. CIA
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is an independent civilian intelligence agency of the United States government. It is an executive agency and reports directly to the Director of National Intelligence, with responsibility for providing national security intelligence assessment to senior United States policymakers. Intelligence-gathering is performed by non-military commissioned civilian intelligence agents, many of whom are trained to avoid tactical situations. The CIA also oversees and sometimes engages in tactical and covert activities at the request of the President of the United States. Often, when such field operations are organized, the U.S. military or other warfare tacticians carry these tactical operations out on behalf of the agency while the CIA oversees them. Although intelligence-gathering is the agency's main agenda, tactical divisions were established in the agency to carry out emergency field operations that require immediate suppression or dismantling of a threat or weapon. The CIA was founded in part for intelligence-gathering as a means to prevent a declaration of war based on erroneous conceptions.

Its remit includes the protection of British parliamentary democracy and economic interests, counter-terrorism and counter-espionage within the UK. Although mainly concerned with internal security, it does have an overseas role in support of its mission.
