Mr. Touchett with his son, Ralph Touchett, and their
guest Lord Warburton are talking about life and England. But the key point of their
discussion is the sooner arrive of Mrs. Touchett, who has sent them a telegram,
from America,
that she will arrive with her niece Miss Isabel Archer.
She is the daughter of Miss Touchertt’s sister
who died when Isabel was a little girl. Miss Archer has to stay with the father
Mr. Archer, who wants the aunt not to turn up her nose of their family. That’s
why Mrs. Touchett hasn’t been seen in her society before Isabel’s father passed
away.
Isabel is the third child in the family. Her
eldest sister Lilian, or Mrs. Ludlow, says to be the practical one; Edith, the
second sister, or Mrs. Keys, is considered to be the beautiful one. The youngest
Isabel is the intellectual lady. Unlike of her sisters she doesn’t have a
husband, but Mr. Caspar Goodwood, from Boston,
is her fellow, who thinking her the most beautiful young woman of her time.
Miss Archer and Mrs. Touchett come to England
and Isabel is going to make acquaintance with Mr. Touchett and her cousin
Ralph. She gets interested in Lord Warburton and vise versa.
England is the new country for the young
woman, with its customs, culture and behavior of people. When her aunts remarks
her on her doings or talks, Isabel is against Mrs. Touchett, thinking of doing
what she wants but she also asks what she shouldn’t do to have a right to
choice.
Well done!
